Lotus Bumz diaper review + giveaway!

For the last month I've been trying out a new cloth diaper that I've heard about for a few years but haven't gotten a chance to try in person. What's the brand? Lotus Bumz!

Lotus Bumz is family owned by Lorain and the diapers are ethically made in China. The diapers that I got to review are a one-size pocket diaper. If you are new to the cloth diaper lingo game, "one size" means that the diaper is made to fit most babies from usually 8 - 35 lbs, and "pocket diapers" means you stuff an insert inside the cover.
One size pocket diapers are the bread and butter of my stash. They are my first choice in diapering because I'm currently diapering two, a toddler and an infant, so it's very very handy to be able to use the same diapers between the two girls. All I have to do is adjust the rise. I love pocket diapers because the insert always stays in place and they are the easiest to get non-primary caregivers on board with. From the changing diaper standpoint, they go on just like a disposable (with the exception of snaps versus velcro). I just prep them in one big load after I'm done with my wash and they wait patiently in a basket until it's time for a change. Grandparents, aunties and uncles don't have a problem changing them because there's nothing to it.

Besides the cute prints that you can only find on Lotus Bumz diapers, I really like the quality of the PUL material. The PUL (polyurethane laminate) is the exterior part of the diaper and is the printed fabric. It's the waterproof layer. If you have gotten to feel different brands of diapers, you might notice that some PUL fabrics are slick versus kind of "sticky" on the inside. I don't think there is a benefit either way, in my experience one is not more waterproof than the other. But what I have found with a "stickier" fabric is that it's a little harder to stuff them because your skin gets caught on the sticky PUL or the insert does. Lotus Bumz have a slick PUL interior, which makes it easier and quicker to stuff. It's all personal preference, but when you've got a TON of diapers to stuff and two girls begging for you to play...well, let's just say that I take whatever shortcuts are given to me and I appreciate a quick stuffing diaper! The material the touches the baby is fleece, which is soft and hasn't caused any irritation on either of my girls. The diapers come with a standard microfiber insert.

In trying these out on both of my girls (Penny is 32 months and Ruby is 8 months) I've had no problem with fit or leaking, which is what everyone wants to know when buying a cloth diaper!

Now here's your chance to win a 3 pack of Lotus Bumz diapers, and you get to choose your print (as long as it's in stock)! Check out the giveaway widget below to enter.

This giveaway has ended. Thank you to all who entered!

  38. I tried, but I couldn't narrow it down to 3. I can only get to 4 lol. My favorites are: elephants, pink chevron, bicycles and blue owl (special mentions go out to narwhals, pink & gray chevron and go fish...)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would choose the Black and White Wings, Gray and Yellow Chevron and Red Chevron

    ReplyDelete
  40. How do they fit in the legs compared to some of your other diapers? I have found a wide range and I have skinny legged babies!

    ReplyDelete
  41. They truly have some adorable unique prints. If they made pocket diapers with more natural fabrics, I would buy them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. These are too too cute! It's nice to know that the PUL holds up too.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The prints are adorable and I like the idea of being able to prep diapers beforehand so it's one less step to worry about.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I like that the pul is not sticky. I have a few in our stash that are so hard to stuff. I love their cute prints too

    ReplyDelete
  45. I do find my hand gets stuck on the sticky pul. We've only been cloth diapering for 3 weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Lotus Bumz prints are so cute! It looks like there are a few extra snaps on the wings. Are those so that the wings can overlap for small babies? I've had some issues with pocket diapers fitting my daughter in the legs. Do these fit similarly to your other one size pockets?

  47. These kinda remind me of Bumkins Stuff-It, with the fleece inner which I like SO much better than BG 4.0s' suede cloth. The only thing I disliked about those were the multitude of snaps which these seem to have also. But the designs are super cute, it certainly makes me want to try them!

  48. We're new to cloth, but I love the idea of one size! Thanks for explaining the difference in types of PUL - that's something we'll have to test out. Such cute prints!

  49. I really like that these diapers are ethically made. Make the company even better in my eyes. :) As far as the diaper goes, I like that they have 3 rise snaps! I find I get a better fit when there are more options like that.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don't use pocket diapers very often, but those prints are too adorable not to want to get one of these! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. These are adorable diapers! I have not tried them yet but would love to.

  52. One size pocket diapers are my favorite. :) I got lucky and found the cloth diaper type I like on my first try. I've never heard of this brand, but would like to try them out, based on your review. Thank you.
