Camping with Cloth Diapers: Guest Post on My Cloth Diaper Stash

I've written a guest post over at My Cloth Diaper Stash
on my experience with cloth diapering while camping in the great outdoors!
Check it out and let me know if you've braved this old timey experience.
What tips would you add?

  1. I read the article there, but I'm commenting here. I'm originally from Alaska and lived in a dry cabin in Fairbanks for awhile. My family and I are considering moving back, which has made me consider the practicality of CDing. That and I don't have a washer or dryer now either. But I think it will be doable with some determination and ingenuity.

    1. Wow! If you do end up doing it, I want to hear about it! Every year there's an event called 'the flats challenge' (or maybe it's the 'hand wash challenge') where for a month people make the commitment to doing cloth diapers the 'old fashioned way,' and raising awareness for families who, for financial reasons or otherwise, don't think they can cloth diaper. They wash the diapers by hand in a sink, their tub, etc. Now that definitely takes commitment, but it probably isn't as bad as it seems.

  2. I've got a friend who currently CD in a dry cabin. I think she just washes more frequently. And of course friends are generally understanding. There is always that friend with a washer who understands that her friends are going to bring four bags of clothes with them. And fill up water jugs in the bathtub.

  6. I'm excited to camp with cloth! It won't be any different for us since I already hand wash at home. It'll be a ton easier than taking trips to the campsite dumpster!

  7. Great read. I haven't been brave enough to do much CDing while travelling, I will have to give it a go.
